PHIL GUILLAUMIN
Ice hockey is truly in all of our hearts, but for one of our veterans, the pun is definitely intended. With a heart transplant only a few years ago, nothing could stop this veteran from getting back on the ice and becoming a great service provider to our veterans. We are pleased for you to meet, Phil Guillaumin(forward)…
My Story

“I grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana, with roots that span from Thailand through my mother to Ville Platte through my father. I served in the U.S. Air Force from 1991–1993, stationed in Eielson, Alaska, where I worked as an Aerospace Propulsion Specialist on A-10 and F-16 jets with the 343rd Tactical Fighter Wing. I later joined the Air Guard at Belle Chasse, working on F-15 engines with the 159th TFW. I pretty much always knew I wanted to join the Air Force. I’ve always been fascinated with aviation, getting the love from my pops who was also in the Air Force. He would always take me to air shows growing up, and even gave me my first flight lesson at the age of 16.
After my military service, I studied computer animation, built a career as a chef at notable restaurants like Pamplona’s and Charley G’s, and opened Namwan in 2016, continuing a family legacy that began with Pimon Thai in 1996. A brief stop at Volkswagen led me to meet my wife, and today I am a proud father of two sons. After overcoming a heart transplant in 2023, I am feeling stronger than ever, finding health, camaraderie, and joy through hockey.”

Success story’s like these are what drives this team to continue service for our veterans, giving them a place to call home. We are so proud of Phil’s determination and drive, not only while he’s out on the ice, but always lending a hand to a veteran in need…with a heart of gold.
